SUBMISSION SUCCESSFUL

After completing the loading of Carsinos, SSC headed out on VSSC102N on 10th March. As usual they headed straight up to Malekula and operations began quickly. The crew had several containers to unload as well as some ISO tanks. The first day of operations went smoothly and the team were able to move onto the next destination, Santo.

The ice truck was on the road again delivering frozen goods, another few containers were to be repositioned and there were some LCL containers to be filled to return with back to Malekula.

When the barge returned to Malekula it was a wet morning, but that didn’t halt operations. Some staff from CCECC were loading materials that were to be delivered to Port Vila. South Sea Cargo is always thrilled to support the range of businesses and customers that use our services to send or receive their materials to and from the islands.

The local people from Malekula were excited to receive the frozen goods that just travelled from Santo.

Although the rain persisted and even got quiet heavy, the team continued to back load but were extra careful to follow safety precautions in the wet weather.

Once again this voyage was a success. But what the real highlight was for this journey was the updated freight costs, which allowed customers of SSC to receive a discount. This decision comes in light of the recent official gazette No. 82 of 2023 issued by the Vanuatu government, which exempts import duty on diesel for domestic shipping operators in Vanuatu. As a result, customers in Malekula and Santo can now enjoy a significant reduction in shipping costs, which is expected to have a positive effect on the prices of goods and services in the island communities.
