    Have Any Questions?

South Sea Cargo departed from Port Vila on the 2nd of September, however instead of the usual direction, they were headed south to Tanna.

The plan was to deliver over 20 containers to Tanna, to local businesses but among the lot were 15 containers full of NDMO cargo.

South Sea Cargo is glad to be able to assist with the Government in transporting NDMO goods to the local people in need. The team at South Sea Cargo took part in a meeting to liaise with the NDMO group.

Even one of the senior South Sea Cargo staff members flew down to Tanna in advance to assist with the unloading and logistics on the island.

Locals from Tanna were contacted to assist with the unloading process of the relief cargo. This included church groups, sports teams, local communities and any willing able bodied individuals. It was estimated over 100 hundred locals came out to help.

The day of unloading brought challenges, as the network telecommunications were down so that limited the team’s ability to stay updated with the progress in the front lines.

However the team were able to manage despite the challenges which also included the weather.

Empty ISO tanks were also to be collected – but they were at the airport where unfortunately a bridge had collapsed along that route, so the drivers had to take a detour to get to the objective.

All the ISO tanks were loaded and the NDMO containers were unloaded and the food was distributed among the communities. This included rice, biscuits and more.

After unloading at Bethel, Carsinos directed its course to Lenakel where more unloading began. More NDMO containers were unloaded and distributed to the local communities, and the Police officers assisted with the additional traffic at the wharf area.

South Sea Cargo were very pleased to be able to assist with the relief aid cargo being delivered to Tanna and the whole team were impressed with the successful unloading process – as there were a lot of moving parts during the operation.

They returned back to Port Vila on the 6th of September with more LCL cargo sent up from Tanna
